Woman Stabbed to Death in Northwest Washington DC

Police are investigating the fatal stabbing of a woman in the Petworth neighborhood of Northwest D.C. Monday night.

It happened at around 8 p.m. at Kansas Avenue and Emerson Street. According to police, the victim was wounded in the chest.

Sources tell FOX 5's Marina Marraco that the victim has died and is the city's 110th homicide this year.

Officers at the crime scene said there was a verbal altercation between two women inside a Metrobus. The confrontation later became physical outside on the sidewalk.

Metro said the stabbing did not happen on the bus and that D.C. police is handling the investigation. The Metrobus was being blocked off by crime scene tape as police investigated.

Police are searching for a black female suspect who took off on foot. She is described as 5’5” to 5’6” tall and was wearing dark pants and a denim jacket.
